The client contacted us to create a home that would accommodate three generations of family living together in one home. The owner liked the convenient location of the home, and wanted to transform the home in a way that would work for multi-generational living.
We demolished the original three-bedroom cape and constructed a new 24’ x 48’ colonial with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The first-floor bedroom and bathroom were designed for easy access and use for the grandmother, and the second floor was designed with separate bedrooms and a bathroom for quiet privacy from the central laundry.
It was also important to the client that the new home be energy efficient. We accomplished this by using solar thermal systems for hot water and a high efficiency hot water radiant heating system. The house received an excellent energy rating and is certified as an Energy Star home
